Our Mixed Martial Arts Program can teach you the skills and moves the top MMA athletes use all the time, without getting beaten up or hurt.

Our program is designed for beginners all the way up to stepping in the cage and is a progressive and challenging program designed to get the best out of YOU from day one!

We will teach you how to blend these martial arts into a system that fits you and your body, whether you are big or small, male or female, fit or unfit, we will get you to your best as quick as possible.

The Mixed Martial Arts program is coached by our top instructors and is based on the primary arts of Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Kickboxing and Wrestling. We are affiliated with Erik Paulson’s Combat Submission Wrestling Program and the Head Instructors can grade students in the system with world class, recognised grades. This program is one of the top programs in the world and is the basis on which Erik coaches his UFC Fighters.

Who is Erik Paulson?

Erik Paulson is an American mixed martial artist. He is the first American to win the World Light-Heavy Weight Shooto Title in Japan. He founded Combat Submission Wrestling to promote the art of Shooto and the Mixed Martial Arts.

What is Mixed Martial Arts?

Lets start with what Mixed Martial Arts is not. MMA is not a martial art in its own right, nor is UFC a martial art or any other competitive event a martial art.

So what is MMA then? Well in the modern era, MMA started out as a no holds barred fight where striking and grappling were both allowed. Then in the early nineties, it developed further into an event that matched different martial arts against one another.

In the UFC you could see a judo guy fight a karate guy or a kick boxer fight a Muay Thai guy. The early UFC was probably the first event that we quickly learned the value of the grappling arts and in particular Brazilian Jiu Jitsu or more particularly, Gracie Jiu Jitsu. The early UFC events – in fact the first four – were dominated by Gracie Jiu Jitsu! This however, soon developed into what we know today as Mixed Martial Arts, where guys predominantly study Muay Thai kick boxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and wrestling.

When I moved to Aberdeen I looked for somewhere I could start training again.
I had a background in Boxing, Muay Thai and I was really keen to start learning Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, but learning something new in a new environment is quite daunting.
